Villa Cherie, nestled in an old core of the peaceful little town Sutomišica, offers you island life on the Dalmation coast away from the hustle and bustle of the cities with easy access to the sights and delights of the coast. The location offers ideal opportunities for jogging, bike excursions, long walks among the olive trees, swimming in the sea, or pool side leisure. Like many other Courts throughout Dalmatia, this one still lives the life of our ancestors, surrounded by Ugljan island nature. From the upstairs terrace on clear nights one can see the lights of Zadar. Our villa will provide an unforgettable romantic holiday within a labyrinth of stone fences and old stone houses, 5 minutes from the town of Preko, and 25 minutes from Zadar by frequently running ferry boats.

Luxury with taste of old

Villa Cherie is over 300 years old and built on a huge corner stone of solid granite. We made every effort to renovate Villa Cherie to provide a modern feeling that will make your stay comfortable and cozy, while preserving as much of the antiquity as we could possibly manage. From Ruins to Beauty. Each room has remote control management of air conditioning and flat screen TV. For stays in colder months there is floor heating throughout the house, remote control heating and a wood burning fireplace. The Villa is equipped with ambiance lighting throughout, by the pool and on the terraces, and has a running waterfall on the back terrace to enhance the feeling of tranquility. Villa Cherie doesn’t just look like luxury, it feels like luxury.

VIP Service

Villa Cherie has 2 bars and a large wine cellar stocked with various wines from the Istra region of Croatia. Croatian wine is truly one of the jewels of Croatia, and in ancient times was fit for the Emperor. Guests are invited to try a variety of wines which are all offered for purchase during your stay, or to take home with you. To get you started on your Croatian wine adventure, all guests are given a bottle of local wine compliments of Villa Cherie. We serve, complementery filtered coffee and variety of teas. Our Villa has: a private pool; one private terrace with a view of the sea one private terrace with a built in grill adjacent to a well equipped kitchen, quiet evenings and beautiful sunsets.

Five Star Rooms

Two rooms are fully equipped with king size beds featuring luxury mattresses. One has a super comfy sleeping loft with two twin beds, and the other has an adjacent sleeping room with two twin beds, both featuring luxury mattresses. Rooms in the Villa have air conditioning, floor heating, Wifi, flat screen TV, and coffee/tea service. The bathrooms feature spacious stone showers and large stone sinks with beautiful fixtures.

From ruins to a beauty

Success is no accident. Renovating our Villa was a labor of love. It took a lot of imagination, hard work, perseverance, creativity, team work, and even at times, bravery, all driven by love of what we were doing. We set the rules early on, save what we can, enhance without destroying using the most authentic, locally sourced, materials as we could find.
The stone was painstakingly restored by local masons. Preservation and extension of existing stone was really the foundation of our journey. Our masons spent over 6 months restoring the stone inside and out. All of the stone used to restore, or extend existing stone works, came from unwanted ruble sites on the island. The granite counter tops and stone sinks came from local queries in Biograd.
The fixtures were constructed from local materials, or re-used materials from within the house. The old wood that formed the original roof was saved when the new roof was installed and has been used throughout the house to make cabinetry, beds, and fixtures. Old discarded furniture that fills the rooms was restored or painted in order to be re-used.We used color and decor inside our Villa to maintain the tranquility of the mind as you enter the Villa from the surrounding outside beauty. We accent with green like the local foliage, terra-cotta like the roofs and the clay, and brown like the earth and trees. We wanted the accents and colors to warm the stone, and give a pleasant visual that would relax the mind and bring on smiles.From those ingredients we present to you Villa Cherie. Our goal for our guests is a pleased , “Wow.”
