Ugljan is the closest island of the Zadar archipelago, to Zadar and is separated by a few mile wide channel. There is frequent car ferry service to the island, and even a passenger ferry that goes from Preko right to the center of the old town in Zadar.
Ugljan is called the green island because it is covered with dense bush, pine trees, olive groves, fig groves, vineyards, and other Mediterranean vegetation. It has a surface area of 51.85 km2, a shore line of 74 km long, and a peak of 249m above sea level.
On the peak, where you can see the giant radio tower, sits a fortified structure called, “Saint Michael’s Fortress” or “Sv. Mihovil”. The beginning of the structure is thought to date back to the 13th century. It is stated that Venetians made renovations and additions to the Fortress through the 15th to 18th centuries. One can hike to the top (primarily on switch back roads) and enjoy a breath taking view of the Croatian coast and the surrounding islands in the Kornati National Park. This treasure is worth the trip up.
Our beautiful private pools sits among the olive trees. Pool side features include a sun deck, lounge chairs, in pool seating, and sink and shower facilities.

It is said that ˝when in Rome, do as the Romans do˝. In Zadar, we apply the same rule! Meet Zadar, a city with a rich history of more than 3000 years, through the eyes of the locals. Find out who are the “bankerly” of Zadar, and the significance of the number three, four, and five. Sit on the steps of the beautiful sea side promenade and listen to the famous sea organ. Taste local, and international, food in one of the many restaurants the city has to offer, but be sure to leave room for the Gelato sold by the many street venders.Discover More
Villa Cherie was designed to maximize and enhance the natural space inside that 300 year old stone walls. Every effort was made to modernize the comfort while preserving the original mason works. The color palette brings island nature into the Villa, giving the stones a neutral warm ambiance. Inside, our Villa has a well equipped kitchen adjoining a patio with a built in grill and the tranquil sounds that come from a waterfall nestled in the corner. A second patio is on the top floor and features a view of the Olive Island Marina and the coast of Zadar. There are two bars, two and a half bathrooms, three bed rooms, and a sleeping loft. The Villa also has spacious living and dinning areas. The entire Villa has climate control for hot and cold weather, including heated floors. Three flat screen TV.Discover More
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT of YOUR HOLIDAY
Villa Cherie is nestled in the old core of the peaceful little town of Sutomiscica. You can stay on the island and hike or bike, rent scooters, swim in the sea, stroll through the labyrinth of stone fences, stone houses, and olive trees, to the village of Preko, or check out the numerous quant and beautiful coves located all around the island.
Excursions can include island fun, or mainland fun. Ugljan is next to the Kornati National Park of Islands, which are close enough to boat in a day. We recommend not to miss going to Dugi Otok for the day. You can rent sail boats or motor boats from the island, or take a ferry. For mainland excursions we recommend some good day trips to places like Sibenik, Split, Krka Falls, the spectacular Plitvica Lakes, Velebit mountains, and many many more towns and geographical wonders on or near the Dalmation coast. Don’t forget to enjoy tasting the wines of the region.
